Privacy Policy
Last Updated: 9/1/2024
Kinsome, Inc. (“Kinsome,” “we,” or “us”) aims to better connect children with their grandparents through a digital communication platform and apps that allow kids and grandparents to share updates, connect, and learn (our “Platform”).
This Privacy Policy describes how we handle the personal information we collect in connection with our Platform, websites (including www.kinsome.com) (the “Site”), and any other digital services that link to this Privacy Policy (collectively, the “Services”).
Unless specified below, “you” refers to parents and guardians (and, where applicable, grandparents) who register for the Platform for their kids, and to visitors to our Site
Children’s Privacy
When you register for the Platform, we ask you to consent to our collection of personal information about your kids for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not provide consent, your kid will not be able to use the Platform.
How kids use the Platform. The Platform uses an AI companion to facilitate conversation and prompt kids to share thoughtful updates with their grandparents. This helps kids to reflect on what they have been doing to choose the right moments to share with their grandparents. For example, the AI companion may ask kids questions about their day and ask follow-up questions that allow kids to recall their activities. The kid’s audio from these conversations are shared with grandparents along with text summaries of the questions the AI companion asked.
How the AI companion works. We rely on an AI technology service provider (OpenAI) to provide the companion feature of the Platform. When your kids use the Platform, OpenAI will receive all interactions with the chatbot feature to facilitate the companion interaction. OpenAI only uses such information to facilitate the services, and we require they only do so as permitted by applicable laws. We also use an OpenAI transcription service in conjunction with a voice technology provider called ElevenLabs to convert audio to text and text to audio to allow your kids to interact with the companion in audio format. We encourage you to monitor your child’s conversation with the AI companion and to report any inappropriate content to us immediately at: support@kinsome.com.
How we share information from kids. We share information from kids with you and their grandparents to facilitate their use of the Platform. We also rely on service providers to support the Platform, including AI and audio transcription service providers, and other IT service providers as described further in the ‘How We Share Personal Information’ section below. We do not share information from kids with advertising partners.
Your choices regarding information from your kid. You may contact us any time as provided in the ‘Contact Us’ section below to review, update or delete any of your kids’ personal information.
